Return to Windmill House

A massive thank you to all of you who attended the ‘Return to Windmill House’ excavation last weekend (and Bank Holiday Monday). You are superstars!

We are so pleased with how things went, and hope everyone there enjoyed themselves. Expanding TP9 successfully confirmed the existence of a feature, though if it’s a pit, or something more complex, remains to be seen (there are other possible features in association). The material culture is exclusively blade-based flintwork, so the feature(s) could be early. It also produced burnt hazelnut shell. As some of you know, the trench was temporarily covered over, with the intention of returning again shortly to progress the excavation.

I’m very pleased to announce that we will be returning to excavate on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th September. If you are interested in attending, then please send us a message our ‘Contact Us‘ page. Please note that we can only accommodate 12 volunteers, and will give priority to those who have already attended the excavation.
