Andy Hickie becomes an Advisor

TAG is delighted to announce that Andy Hickie has joined us as an Advisor. He brings with him a wealth of expertise:

“Andy’s background is primarily medical, having worked as a radiographer in both the NHS and, previously, in the Royal Army Medical Corps. Whilst serving in the Army, he was involved in the development of the Military Telemedicine System, transmitting x-ray images from remote locations such as Bosnia back to a receiving hospital in the UK, for which his team received an award from the British Computer Society in 1998. He also specialised in Diagnostic Ultrasound which gave him a good eye for pattern recognition – and what he describes as a “stubborn tendency” to try to extract as much diagnostic information from imagery as he possibly could!

Andy has always had an interest in archaeology and, on acquiring a drone, began using UAVs to map archaeological sites, primarily for his own interest. He also began working with various algorithms within GIS software in an attempt to enhance or reveal archaeological features, something he continues to the present day.

He is now retired and lives in the North of Scotland on the Black Isle, near Inverness.”
