TAG is excited to announce volunteer opportunities and events for the month of July.
SATURDAY 11th and SUNDAY 12th JULY: we will be returning to Windmill House to continue our excavations. We hope to make significant progress and there will be room for a relatively large number of volunteers.
SATURDAY 18th JULY: we commence our contribution to the CBA Festival of Archaeology with our ‘gateway’ event. Consisting of an introductory lecture, followed by artefact-handling, and a tour of the henges, it is ideal for those who know relatively little or nothing about Thornborough, but are keen to learn. The event will be held in West Tanfield Memorial Hall and those attending must choose between a morning session or an afternoon session.
SATURDAY 25th JULY: we are back in West Tanfield Memorial Hall for the finale of our contribution to the CBA Festival of Archaeology. We are hosting an event titled ‘Exploring Henge Monuments and Nature’ in partnership with Prof. Seren Griffiths of Manchester Metropolitan University, and Dr Jennifer Wexler of English Heritage. Consisting of a day of in-depth talks from archaeologists, this event is ideal for those of you who have been attending TAG fieldwork over the last two years and wish to develop their knowledge and understanding.
We will post further information about all these events as soon as we possibly can, but please put the dates in your diary if you think you may like to attend.
Thank you.
