TAG would like to thank all those who participated in our fieldwalking event at Copt Hewick Common on 22nd March 2026.

The team worked exceptionally hard and successfully walked an impressively large area, despite the field’s heavy vegetation cover. The vast majority of finds are post-medieval pottery and glass, but the collection also includes 27 worked lithics. The majority of this flintwork is debitage or waste, but there is also a blade, 5 flakes, 2 possible blade core fragments, and what may be a rejuvenation flake. This small lithic collection appears to be multi-period, with some of the pieces early Neolithic, others likely later Neolithic.

TAG is extremely grateful to Terry Mason, the farmer, for allowing us access to his land, and for all his kind support and useful local information. We hope everyone who participated found it both an enjoyable and rewarding day.
